How to Attract More Customers to Your Baking Business
Your customers are waiting…
Let’s take a moment to discuss HOW you can find these people and successfully gain more customers for your baking business!
Many times, our lack of customers really gets us down, and may make us want to quit our businesses. We just don’t understand why no orders are coming in.
I have a feeling the lack of customers has more to do with your visibility, rather than your worth as a baker.
Let’s go over a few steps you can use to really get yourself and your products out there, in front of a new audience, to bring in those customers!
In the video below, I take you through my top 3 ways to gain more customers in your baking business!
(12 minute video)
Overview: The Top 3 Ways to Attract Customers to Your Baking Business
Your main goal is going to be getting yourself out in front of your ideal audience. This may take some time and a routine, but believe me, it’s worth it!
—> Things to Do <—
Create Your Facebook Presence
Create your BUSINESS page on Facebook.
Add your location to your name (example: Cupid Cupcakes - Quincy, IL).
Create a linked FB group for VIP buyers, if you would like to have a place for higher visibility and sales opportunities.
Fill out the about section with your product categories and contact information.
Put your logo as your profile picture, and one of your great product photos as the banner (change this often with new work, rectangular images work best).
Join Facebook Groups - Community, Location, Theme, Sales etc
Post original (not shared) ads in these groups, as their rules allow. Ads set up: hook line, juicy description, visual, shout out, call to action/contact info.
Check the rules of each group and post as often as required (create a note for yourself to know when to post). Posting/interaction separated by 90 minutes is crucial for the algorithm.
Introduce Yourself to Others in the Industry
Take samples, extras, etc and hand them out, or just hand out business cards or brochures.
Visit local venues that host parties, local party shops, or places your audience hangs out (coffee shops, stores, etc) and ask to leave your cards or if they want to collaborate.
Visit large companies like banks, schools and realty companies, who often treat their employees and customers with sweets.
Befriend other bakers in the area so you can funnel customers between your businesses, for added support and great customer service. The Human Baking Business Funnel Article.
Attend Vendor Events
Only attend events where you are guaranteed a large crowd, or you really care about the cause.
Prepare accordingly for the event, depending on the event type, to avoid issues. (see the Vendor Events 101 - Guidelines and Checklists for more information)
Stick to just a few events to start with, to avoid over committing or over spending.
Stand as long as possible to attract people to your table, greet people kindly, allow them to browse and mention any sales. Collect email addresses or take orders, on the spot, if you can.
There is much more to be said about being successful at a vendor event, and you can get that document on my website, using the button below.
